The Board of Directors consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 9 board members who all represent and come from the Mountain Park Rescue Squad jurisdiction. Our board of directors has a large range of experience and backgrounds that help make strategic and sound decisions. Serving on our board may not be as time consuming as some of the other roles, but it is one of the most vital components of the Squad.

3.1 Annual Meeting. The regular annual meeting of the corporation shall be held on the fourth Thursday of June at 19:00 hours, with the exception of a legal holiday, in which the meeting shall be held the following business day that is not a legal holiday, for the purpose of receiving annual reports of officers, electing directors, and transacting other business as may properly come before the meeting. At 18:00 hours on the day of the annual meeting, ballots and containers to collect the ballots shall be open for Board of Director elections. The voting shall remain open until 21:00 on the night of the annual meeting.
and
3.4 Publication of Notice of Meeting. Notice of all annual meetings shall be published in a local newspaper for 3 weeks prior to such meeting. The notice shall state the time, date, and place of the meeting. The meeting shall be held at the time, date, and place published.
The Annual Meeting is a critical meeting. It is where the appointment/re-appointment of the Chief occurs for the next fiscal year, and also when Board Elections take place.
Anyone who lives in the Rescue District or who is a member of the Rescue Squad is entitled to vote during the election.
Our Board of Directors is elected by it's members and service recipients (that is, those who live in the Rescue District). Our Bylaws detail the process for becoming nominated to go on the ballot:
4.2 Nominations and Elections. At least 30 days prior to the annual meeting, the President shall task the Secretary with collecting and managing nominations for all open positions. Also at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting, the President shall appoint 3 community members who are not on the Board of Directors to compose and serve as the nomination committee.
4.2.1 Duties of the Nomination Committee. The Nomination Committee shall assure that there is at least 1 nominee for each open seat on the Board of Directors. The Nomination Committee shall have the authority to engage in outreach to achieve this assurance. All nominations shall be reported to the Secretary 15 days prior to the annual meeting. Following the conclusion of voting as defined in Bylaws 3.1, the nomination committee shall prepare and count the ballots casted and shall give notice of the results to the Secretary.
4.2.2 Duties of the Secretary. The Secretary shall post all nominations in a public posting no later than 10 days prior to the annual meeting. At least one public posting will be in a large, easily accessible location within the agency’s building. The Secretary, upon conclusion of voting as defined in Bylaws 3.1, shall post the results in the same locations that the nominees were placed.
4.2.3 Nominations. Nominations can be self-made by the nominee or by anyone else in the response district. No later than 10 days prior to the annual meeting can nominations be made. All nominations made must be given to the Secretary who shall post said results in public postings.
4.2.4 Votes. Elections shall be completed by secret ballot at the time and location as specified by Bylaws 3.1.
In short: whenever the President appoints nomination committee and tasks the Secretary to prepare for the election, you'll begin to see more information come out. This normally occurs around April & May. The Secretary can determine how they can be accessed and how they want to accept other nominations. That information will be posted here when it is available.
You may not normally think about voting at a local nonprofit, but you should! Your civic engagement lets us know you're listening and that you care. Casting a ballot is just as helpful as running for a spot on the Board of Directors.
Show up to the annual meeting and let your voice be heard!
